A former Cr mine located in sec. 16, T6S, R5E, MDM, 3.4 km (2.1 miles) E of Red Mountain and 10.1 km (6.3 miles) E of Copper Mountain, N of Hideout Canyon, a tributary of Del Puerto Canyon, on private land. First production was in 1918. Owned by John Hampton, et al. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan complex. Associated rocks include Late Jurassic dunite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Alteration is local (serpentinization of ultramafic rocks).
