Description: St. Louis Limestone, Salem Formation, Warsaw Formation.
Comments: St. Louis Limestone- (100 ft. max) gray massive limestone; Salem FM- (160 ft. max) cross bedded, argillaceous, oolitic limestone; Warsaw FM- (100ft. max) fossilferous limestone. IN CENTRAL MO- St. Louis Limestone is absent. Warsaw FM is host to Mississippi Valley type Pb-Zn deposits, in the Tri-State District, one of the most productive mining districts in the world. The major commodity is zinc, from sphalerite, galena ore. The Jopin area is noted for large calcite scalenohedrons occurring in vugs of the limestone units.
