Drew's emerald show
Discovered by O. Drew around 1932. GPS co-ordinates suggested are 474,319E 6,885,277N AGD66. Government geologist E.S. Simpson visited soon after. He describes small groups of beryl crystals embedded in quartz in a vein, and the adjacent band of biotite schist, as small prisms 2-20mm in diameter, white through greens to dark green emerald. He stated the best come close to gem quality but are cloudy and flawed. The pegmatite contains several pits. The main pegmatite is 4-5 metres wide, with an outer zone of muscovite, biotite and microcline, and the remainder of the pegmatite albite, microcline, quartz, muscovite, biotite, minor fluorite, and beryl, with a developed quartz core.
