Co-ordinates are simply to the Macquarie River near Wellington and based on an exploration report by a mining company (Gemstar Diamonds Ltd) seeking diamonds.
According to Morris, N. (2005) in his book "Gold and Silver" (Appleseed Editions Ltd, East Sussex), the discovery of gold in a Macquarie River creek by the Englishman Edward Hargraves in 1851, started the Australian "gold rush".
