Quartz veins in mica schists on the northern slope of Monte Congen, between the villages of Chete and Canete.
Andalusite crystals and associated minerals are found in quartz at the vein outcrops and in the blocks scattered in woods and grasslands.

There are two main mineral sites in the woods along the slope of Monte Congen. Coordinates:
- first site: 46°19.344 N, 9°30.453 E
- second site: 46°19.432 N, 9°30.417 E
To reacch these sites from the town of Villa di Chiavenna, drive towards the Swiss border. At the junction near the dam of "Pian della Ca", turn left, cross the bridge of the dam and continue towards the hamlet of Santa Barnaba; then follow the signs to the village of Canete.
