A former lode Au mine located in the N½ sec. 23 and in the SW¼ sec. 26, T5N, R11E, MDM, about 1¾ miles SW of Mokelumne Hill (town). Operated prior to, and during, the period 1900 to 1916. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in greenstone and slate. The ore body strikes N25W and dips 70NE at a thickness of 6.1 meters. The ore body is 10 to 20 feet thick. Quartz stringers occur in schist with a greenstone footwall and a heavy grey slate hanging wall. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a vertical 300 foot shaft with levels at 200 feet (the vein is 220 feet from the shaft at this depth), and at 300 feet.
