Wheal Trefusis lay about three-quarters of a mile southeast of Redruth Railway Station. The sett also includes East Wheal Trefusis and was bounded by Clijah and Wentworth Mine to the west and Wheal Sparnon to the north.

Wheal Trefusis operated from Engine Shaft on North Lode, Boundary Shaft, Nicholl's Shaft and Joliffe's Shaft on Middle Lode, and Reynold's Shaft on South Lode. East Wheal Trefusis worked Main Lode from Engine Shaft.

Wheal Trefusis raised 350 tons of 6.5% copper ore and 205 tons of black tin raised 1853-63. The mine was suspended in 1865. There is no recorded output figures for East Wheal Trefusis (Dines, 1956).
