Clooshgereen and Cregg mines were Victorian era workings for lead. Though it is in close proximity, the Cregg mine is a separate unrelated working on the same mineralization.
The Cregg mine consists of a single shaft working which has since been in-filled as a new house now occupies the site.
The Clooshgereen mine consists of 3 shafts and an intersecting adit level. The 3 shafts have been in-filled with only a minor subsidence evident at the location of the most northerly shaft. The adit level is still extant though the portal is blocked by large boulders likely put in place using a mechanical excavator. It is plausible that the adit level is open behind these boulders until it meets the first in-filled shaft. The landowner at the site recalls the level being open though partly water-filled several decades ago.
