A local landmark. Uniquely for the area, the rock is a mix of schorl and quartz rather than granite. The chapel on top of the rock, dedicated to St Michael, dates from 1401.

The rock features in Arthurian legend and is said to have been the dwelling of the hermit Ogrin who sheltered the lovers Tristram, a knight of the round table, and Isolde from the wrath of the betrayed King Mark, the husband of Isolde and uncle of Tristram.
