Lead-zinc district about 350 square kilometers (72 square miles) in area extent, located in Cherokee County, Kansas, and Ottawa County, Oklahoma, a few miles west of the Missouri line. Mined from the 1870s to the 1970s.

The former town/city of Picher was dis-incorporated in 2009 and declared uninhabitable due to past mining and environmental health issues.
