Merrill's Quarry

Granite quarry near the north end of Oak Hill, opened ca. 1830. There are dikes of pegmatite and aplite.
Isaac Carkin was the first person to begin quarry work on Oak Hill around 1826. In time, he was succeeded by Major Jesse Colburn and George Merrill.

As of 2022 the quarry is flooded, and despite being posted as private property, is covered in graffiti and trash.
