Locality borders onto the Orange River and is next to Girtis Farm 109. Pale to dark amethyst quartz was mined sporadically on Girtis farm prior to the major finds of the late 1990's. The 'Kalkgat pocket' on Girtis comprised of superb large crystals of intense reddish-brown colour often on pink albite or as floater groups.
