LCT and NYF pegmatites that are part of the so-called Bodengo pegmatite area, a large region including the upper portions of a series of valleys (Leggia and Cama valleys, Moesa, Grisons, Switzerland; Bodengo, Soè and Garzelli valleys, Sondrio Province, Lombardy, Italy; Dosso and Darengo valleys, Como Province, Lombardy, Italy) located between the Mesolcina (west) and Mera (east) valleys, Southern Steep Belt of the Central Alps.
The two main LCT pegmatite bodies in Leggia Valley are known as Pizzo Paglia pegmatite dyke (2385 m a.s.l.; VLGa in Guastoni et al., 2014) and Colonello pegmatite dyke (2160 m a.s.l.; VLGb in Guastoni et al., 2014). They are characterised respectively by the following mineral assemblage: K feldspar, albite, quartz, muscovite, biotite, beryl, schorl, almandine-spessartine garnets (core Alm58Sps41Pyr1 to rim Alm73Sps23Pyr3), zircon, K feldspar, albite, albite var. cleavelandite, quartz, muscovite, beryl, schorl, almandine-spessartine garnets, wodginite, zircon.
A NYF pegmatite body outcrops at an intermadiate elevation between the previous ones (VLGm in Guastoni et al., 2014). It is characterised by the presence of K feldspar, albite, quartz, aeschynite-(Y), biotite, columbite-(Fe), euxenite-(Y), monazite-(Ce), spessartine-almandine garnets (core Sps65Alm29Pyr4 to rim Sps51Alm40Py5), zircon.
