Araçuaí is a Brazilian town and municipality located in the northeast of the state of Minas Gerais in the Jequitinhonha River valley.

The name is also used for the Araçuaí pegmatite district.

Some exceptional crystals from the same deposit show translucency across the mass when intensely illuminated: the colour thus obtained is a dark, slightly purplish red, and withstands comparison with antique stained glass."
