A Ag-Au-Fe-Pb-Cu occurrence located 4.1 km (2.5 miles) NNE of Mountain Spring (approximately 5.3 miles SE of Volcano Butte, approximately 2 miles NW of Mammoth Mine, and approximately 3.8 miles SW of LaMotte Spring) (access road is approximately 2 miles N of the intersection of Mountain Springs Canyon, Junction Ranch & Birchum Springs Roads, along Junction Ranch Road, approximately 2 miles along access road, then N approximately 0.4 mile. The prospect pit is on the E side of the road), on military reservation land (China Lake Naval Ordnance Test Station). Discovered by Jewel F. Fallenius, C. Riffel, and John Carricaro in 1941. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 250 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in quartz diorite. No major outcropping of vein or wallrock, minor outcrop of felsite dike. Insufficient rock exposure for evaluation of structural features and the extent of mineralization. Quartz contains a large amount of galena and lesser amounts of pyrite, with some chrysocolla, malachite and azurite. Associated rocks include Late Cretaceous diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface openings with a length of 7.62 meters, an overall depth of 1.52 meters, an overall length of 914.4 meters (sic), and an overall width of 182.88 meters (sic). There is 1 prospect pit 25 feet long by 20 feet wide by 5 feet deep on Pooch No. 2 (claim). Two adjoining claims.
