A Mn occurrence/group of claims located in the SW¼ sec. 30, T31N, R12W, MDM, 6.5 km (4.0 miles) E of Friend Mountain, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is Mn in thin-bedded chert. Manganese lies in a belt of thin-bedded, purplish manganiferous chert 400 feet wide, at least 800 feet long, striking NE and dipping nearly vertically. Chert is cut off by greenstone on 2 sides and seemingly is a roof pendant in a basic plutonic rock. Manganese is localized in 3 deposits; 2 at the NE end, about 300 feet apart across strike and the other 600 feet to the S across a ravine. The NE deposit is Louella, the SE is Carr, and the SW is the Carrie claim, which is lower garde than the others. It doesn't have much ore over 5% Mn, and is involved with greenstone, which cuts off the chert to the SE. Local rocks include undated granitic rocks, unit 2 (Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
Analytical data results: The general average grade is probably under 10% Mn.
