Manganiandrosite-(La) from
Grubependity Lake cirque, Grubependity Lake, Maldynyrd range (Maldy-nyrd range), Kozhim River Basin, Komi Republic, Russia

Locality type:Valley
Classification
Species:Manganiandrosite-(La)
Formula:(Mn2+La)(Mn3+AlMn2+)O[Si2O7][SiO4](OH)
Comments:Manganiandrosite-(La) occurs as small brown-red grains in Mn-rich concretions in a coarse grained sansdstone (arkose). The concretions vary from 3x5 to 10x30 cm across, and consist of mostly the same minerals as the sandstone, but are enriched in Mn-rich minerals, predominantly spessartine, piemontite and ardennite-(As), but also manganiandrosite-(La), zircon, monazite-(La), xenotime-(Y), chernovite-(Y), Nd-rich chernovite-(Y), gasparite-(Ce) and arsenoflorencite-(La). Most of these minerals were first identified in heavy mineral concentrates from the concretions.
