Liddicoatite from
Antandrokomby pegmatite, Manandona Valley, Sahatsiho Ambohimanjaka, Ambositra, Amoron'i Mania, Madagascar

Locality type:Pegmatite
Classification
Species:'Liddicoatite' (not an IMA approved species)
Formula:Ca(Li2Al)Al6(Si6O18)(BO3)3(OH)3(OH)
Comments:It is stated in Pezzotta et al (1997) without any further analysis that the red and green tourmaline at Antandrokomby are mainly liddicoatite. In Pezzotta (1999), p 53 (german version) there is a picture of red crystals with greenish core (from a miarolitic cavity), and the accompanying texts calls these "crystals of elbaite-liddicoatite"- this is not reflected in the book text though.

Colour:Red
Confirmation
Validity:Unconfirmed/Questioned
