- Cripple Creek Mining District
| Smoky quartz or fluorite forms around very thin tubes of sand-colored material and darker yellow solid substance initially thought to be laumontite. Subsequent X Ray tests, including one by Colorado School of Mines (B. Geller) and then again by John Attard confirmed material is barite (Joe Dorris, pers. comm.). The School of Mines test was shown on a "Prospectors" TV show episode, season 4. |
