Arsenolite from
White Caps Mine, Manhattan, Manhattan Mining District, Toquima Range, Nye County, Nevada, USA

Locality type:Mine
Classification
Species:Arsenolite
Formula:As2O3
Comments:Although H. G. Clinton offered arsenolite for sale in the 1930s, the best specimens resulted from the fire which ended the mine’s productive life. Arsenolite occurs as octahedrons, sometimes skeletal, ranging in size from minute to crystals over 2 cm across. The crystals are commonly clear but are in some cases colored yellowish or reddish by included minerals. Collectors have found nice euhedral crystals on charred mine timbers and on the walls of the vertical shaft.
Habit:octahedral, sometimes skeletal
Colour:commonly clear but are in some cases colored yellowish or reddish by included minerals
Confirmation
Validity:Believed Valid
