Comments:betafite occurs as small octahedral to subrounded, isolated, dodecahedral crystals or clusters of crystals up to 2 cm in size,
although commonly of 1-3 mm diameter in the Goanikontes area. Typically, betafite is greenish brown or yellowish brown in colour, although it shows a range from yellowish- or greenish-brown
through grey to progressively darker colours, such as reddish brown or almost black body colour. The proportions of U, Ti, Nb, and Ta vary between betafite grains.
