Comments:The chemistry of babingtonite from Seebachtal (crystals up to 0.5mm) exhibits a wide range of chemical zoning caused by substitution of iron and (Mn+Mg+AI). The crystal core is enriched in iron with a mean composition of (Ca1.95Na0.01)1.96(Fe2+0.76Mn0.16Mg0.11)1.03(Fe3+0.96Al0.05)1.01[Si5014(OH)], whereas the rim chemistry is enriched in (Mn+Mg+AI) up to 0,76 apfu.
