Comments:Crystals to 4 inches. Referred to by Schooner as spessartine, but most likely impure almandine based on XRF analyses of many other district pegmatitic garnets.
Habit:trapezohedral
Colour:dark maroon with black coating
Quality for species:Good crystals or rich for species - important (!)
