Natrolite from
Tylden quarry, Tylden, Macedon Ranges Shire, Victoria, Australia

Locality type:Quarry
Classification
Species:Natrolite
Formula:Na2Al2Si3O10 · 2H2O
Comments:"Crystals previously identified as mesolite, after X-ray diffraction and microprobe analysis showed that they consist of a thin natrolite-rich rim on a gonnardite-rich core. This zonation can be seen on broken spheres which show a pearly, white radiating fibrous structure of platy crystals. The gonnardite/natrolite is associated with chabazite and appears to have crystalized first."
