Tertiary Basaltic outcrops around the township contain some zeolites. Note that there are no zeolite occurrences in The Nut itself. The main area is along the coast about 1.5km to the north. They occur in the Green Hills basalt, a phase of vulcanism that was later than the episode that formed The Nut. Access to this area is by traversing private property and permission is required. Recent exploration (February 2022) has located zeolites in basalt cobbles washed up at the end of Godfrey's Beach, about 800 metres south of the main collecting area.
