The northernmost shaft of the Isle Royale Mine ( https://www.mindat.org/loc-3845.html ) and one of the companyβs earliest workings. The site contains small poor rock piles near the corner of Sharon and Portage Avenues where some copper and silver can be found. Exposed near the site is a mineralized outcrop of the Isle Royale Lode that contains two oxidized zones where fine microcrystals of Malachite and Azurite can be found. The Isle Royale Lode, where this shaft was located, was said to be one of the better locations for silver on the Keweenaw Peninsula.
