In crystaline limestone.
An old lime kiln and three abandoned quarries are situated in lot 10, con
cession X, Ross township, on the slope of a hill adjacent to and north of the road. These quarries were formerly operated by J. M. Jamieson. The quarry west of the kiln and nearest the road is 50 feet by 100 feet and
was opened up with two benches, the lower being 10 feet and the upper 20 feet high at the face. A second quarry just east of the kiln is on the slope of the hill and is 100 by 75 feet and from 10 to 12 feet deep.
The third quarry is above the kiln. The floor of the quarry is 50 feet above road level. It is 100 feet wide and extends up the slope of the hill for 200 feet. The average depth is 15 feet.(ARV53)
