Boolcoomatta


Boolcoomatta Reserve is a unique 63,000 ha reserve.

After 150 years as a sheep station, Boolcoomatta is now being established as a Bush Heritage reserve.

Boolcoomatta is located about just five hours from Adelaide and one hour west of Broken Hill in eastern South Australia.

Boolcoomatta is about 100 km west of Broken Hill and about 463 km northeast of Adelaide.

This landform is part of the Olary Ranges which were formed by intrusive granite and associated metamorphism and date back to 1.8 to 2 billion years old.

These are some of the oldest rocks in Australia.

Boolcoomatta has a history of copper mining and some old shafts.

Gold and uranium are still mined nearby, outside of the reserve.
