The territory of Kambove is a decentralized entity of the Haut-Katanga province, near the border with Lualaba in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
There are several copper mines exploited from the beginning of the twentieth century by the UMHK (Union Minière du Haut-Katanga) then, later, by Gécamines.

That dump was often used as camping ground by the collectors who came to visit the mine.
One day, there was a heavy rain and a not specified collector dug a little trench around his tent to keep it dry. There he found the clinoclase.
No specimens where found in the mine itself so it's a mistery were they where found in the deposit. |
