The USGS describes Devil Peak as an unclassified Paleozoic metamorphic rock. In actuality Devil Peak is a mid-grade metamorphic mica schist, consisting of muscovite replacement of amphibole (probably hornblende). This alpine facies was broken and intruded by hydro-thermal quartz. The quartz has many vugs that produce large quartz crystals, often with interesting inclusions.
