Magnetite:
There are small concentrations of sands with magnetite as lenses or sometimes forming small beds, in the sector of Nucapa and the Amaicha river, where it appears with regular thickness, but with variable distribution of magnetite. The presence of fluvial deposits of magnetite in this sector is due to the destruction of rocks from the western sector of the Calchaqui sierra ore carriers. Studies were conducted to verify the presence of titanium which would make them exploitable from the economic point of view.
Wood Opal:
A deposit of petrified wood, called the "petrified forest" by the locals is located to the West of the town of Tío Punco. The extraction of specimens is currently not permitted.
