Located SW of Saalfelden.
In the 1980s, collecting was forbidden.
The quarry is known for nice micromounts of TiO2 minerals and some sulphides.
The mineralogy is similar to, but more diverse than that of the Oberndorf diabase quarry.
Owned by STRABAG company.
Currently (2009) a tunnel is driven (at an inclination of about 28Β°) up the mountain to gain underground access to two large diabase lenses higher up on the mountain. These lenses and additionally metasandstones and metagreywackes, will be exploited in a large open-pit quarrying operation and the rock material will be transported through the tunnel down to the processing plant.
The quarry will be closed and backfilled starting sometime in 2010.
