A former Ag-Au-Pb-V mine located in secs. 1 & 2, T35N, R41E, MDM.
Alteration: Silicification
Deposit: The older workings explore a silicified zone about 1.5 m wide in quartzite of the ordovician comus fm. Spotty vein quartz occurs in the zone; however, much of the "vein" is a result of replacement. The workings are quite shallow, and nearly all the material on the dumps seems entirely oxidized. The silicified zone is apparently along a thrust fault which is sinuous in trend dipping n W at 25-50. Iron oxides occur in the brecciated silicified rock; gypsum is present As supergene fracture coatings. A small pile of vein quartz with abundant galena and pyrite was noted on the dump of the adit. Either this has been collected from elsewhere on the dump, or from off the property. It was not sampled. The rock on the heap leach pad is most probably from dumps on the small hill just to west the workings explore a vein in silicified limestone and black shale. The silver coin shaft is 165 ft deep on a 30 incline. ; info.src : 1 pub lit; 2 unpub rept; 3 field observ
Deposit type: Polymetallic veins
Development: Listed As an active mine in 1984 although there was no ongoing activity at time of examination in june, 1984. However, a bulldozer was present near the buildings and the heap leach sprinkler lines, etc seemed capable of operation
Geology: 3 ft wide vein
Rock formation(s): Comus
Ore(s): Sinuous Thrust Fault
