Hydrothermal vein sulfide deposit. Located on the east side of the Little River. The Boston-Acton Mine was one of the largest mines on the vein system leading from North Lebanon north along the Little River and even north of the marsh where the river originates. Fifteen named mines or claims are known, but most properties were never opened and the dumps are overgrown and small. Some minerals, such as gold, are reported from assays from 1880 are are porobibly fallacious. Almost all of the mining occurred in 1880, but the Acton Consolidated Mining Company, formed by merging the Boston Acton, Acton, Portland Acton, and the Forest City Mining Companies, continued mining only the Acton and Boston Acton mines, but several attempts were made to revitalize the district in 1881 and 1882 (King, 2000). A map was made showing the approximate locations of the mines (King, 2000, p. 202).
