A Mn occurrence/prospect located in sec. 29, T14N, R8E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.9 mile) SW of Higgins Corner. Discovered in 1945, on state forest land (private leased). The property was comprised of 10 unpatented claims. Owned by Mr Gleason and D. F. Owens, California (1974). Operated/owned by Charles C. Stearns, California (1974). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10,000 meters. Lies between the Manga-Chrome and Smith deposits (secs. 17 & 32).
Mineralization is a cherty manganese bed, 2 feet wide, enclosed in chert and phyllite, which are enclosed in greenstone. The beds strike N25W and dip 70 NE. The ore is low-grade, probably less than 35% Mn. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings comprised of a bulldozed cut 50 feet long, 15 feet wide and 6 feet deep.
No production was recorded. The locality was active when examined in 1940-1942.
