A former placer Au-Cu-Ag mine located in sec. 16, T37N, R7W, MDM, 4.6 km (2.9 miles) WSW of Bonanza Kiong lookout and 2.2 km (7,300 feet) E of Carrville, along Copper Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: MRDS file #10117332 states that this location is a placer occurrence; however, MRDS file #10103009 covers the occurrence(s) as the Rainbow group and alludes to it/them being lode occurrences (openings include trenches & no mention of placers). It would appear as if the collective group of properties are both placers and lode occurrences, particularly in view of the stated Cu presence.
Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 1 (Trinity Ophiolite).
