"Clear Cache" and multi-mineral adds to Localities

Posted by Łukasz Kruszewski

Hello. Seems like the newly-added minerals to a locality doesn't have this locality listed at the bottom of the corresponding mineral page until clicking the "Clear Cache". Is this really essential for these localities to appear in these mineral pages?
Martin Rich August 14, 2016 12:36AM
It seems this is necessary. After editing a locality (description, new minerals, photos,...), I do always clear the cache.

Yes, the update of the corresponding mineral pages is unfortunately is not automatic (we couldn't convince Jolyon to implement this).
Jolyon & Katya Ralph August 23, 2016 12:26AM
It will be automatic in the future, but not with the current server architecture we have.

Maybe this is a related topic, I am not sure:

Recently I added some localities including mineral lists:

https://www.mindat.org/loc-292035.html (here I entered by mistake silver but was not able to remove it - maybe someone can do that?)
The minerals I entered are not visible on the locality pages, only if I go to the edit mode they are listed.

In addition I updated the mineral lists for
The updates are also not visible, only for the latter locality parts of my updates are visible but not everything.

Is all this a "clear cache" issue? Or how can it be fixed? Did I made mistakes when I added the minerals?

Thanks for help

ere I entered by mistake silver but was not able to remove it - maybe someone can do that? - fixed that,

The entries are waiting for approval.
Uwe Kolitsch April 20, 2017 04:16PM
All mineral entries have to be approved first.
Then the cache has also to be cleared manually ...

Silver deleted.
EDIT: Deletion didn't work - a new bug...

PS "occurence" should read occurrence. Two other misprints also fixed.
I recommend activating the spell check (right mouse click in Firefox).
Hartmut Hensel April 20, 2017 04:39PM
Thank you David and Uwe for your immediate replies and thank you Uwe for fixing the misprints - I will work with spell checker in future.

So I have to wait until the mineral lists are approved - that also means that localities are handled differently (no approval required) than the minerals assigned to the localities (approval required)?!

Will I get a notification when this has happened or even more important in case there are some doubts and no approval takes place?

Sorry for my questions, but I only work irregularly on mindat and do not always remember everything and I didn't find all answers on the questions I have in the manual.

Your additions are now approved. Our Germany manager/expert has been unavailable recently. I just approved your entries. Thank you for your contributions.

Thanks, Hartmut. (And keep up the good work on Palatinate!)

When there are doubts, you will get an inquiry by email.
If a mineral add to a list is approved, you get no automatic message.

Any new locality also needs approval.

Thank you Chet, for approving my additions. It is good to see my contributions now.

Thanks, Uwe for your kind words - I will continue working on Palatinate.
