Well, they need to sell the item. And people like to believe that their specimen is really special...
You can also often read that some specimen is special, seldom seen on market, but remember that in many cases there are more specimens available in dealers inventory.
It can be easily seen here at mindat - as time go, there are more and more similar specimens coming from one source stated as unique and seldom seen on the market.
