I thought that this picture would start quite a conversation. Maybe I make a fool out of myself but I am sure it is gold. I will have it checked as soon as possible. If it will not turn out as gold I will take out the photo of mindat. I do not want to be cleverer than all the experts but if you have a look in Goldschmidt's Atlas der Kristallformen you will see that gold can cristalize very similar to rutile (sagenite).

I would agree with sagenitic rutile. Looks like a typical pseudomorph after a tabular ilmenite crystal.
