Identity HelpFluoro-edenite from Nevada

12th Jul 2009 22:13 UTCJohn Sobolewski Expert

Reecently, I recall reading somewhewre about thin hair like crystals of Fluoroedenite found near Henderson, Clark County, Nevada, along with Tridymite. Does anybody know a more precise location and what other minerals are found with the Fluoroedenite? Any help would nbe appreciated.

John Sobolewski.

Hey John,

Never heard about it but the paragenesis sounds right. Would be interested in more information about it if you get some.

Cheers,

Etienne

Hello John & Etienne,

I'm reviving this thread, because I just bought a specimen of "Fluoro-edenite" from "Dragon Ridge, Clark County, Nevada, USA".

John, this specimen has your label on it, and the cardboard box it came in still had your address label stuck to it :-)

I recently bought it from a Dutchman named Fokke Bakker.

Apparently, the "Dragon Ridge" is located at approximately 35° 59' 42" north, 115° 03' 53" west, close to "MacDonald Ranch" to the west and a housing development to the east.

I've not found this locality on Mindat yet.
