I know this is a very long shot, but I wonder if anybody may recognize the writting or the style of any of these old labels, The David New one is obvious but the other three are a mystery, as there is no names associated. The specimen is a type location specimen from Norway, I have included a pic of the specimen as well, size is about 85 x 75mm, thanks in advance.

Not German but French labels,

I have at least two of the printed oblong style that I traded with Gilbert Gauthier some 30 years ago. They originate either from Ecole des Mines or the Natural history museum in Paris. The handwritten one with much text on is old since it uses the old "chaux carbonatée" for calcite. The label says: Babingtonite in greenish crystals with calcite on an amphibolic rock from Arendal (Norway).

cheers

Yes, French labels from Delessert collection (15 000 samples) owned by the École des Mines museum since 1888.

We have one sample with this pedigree here on mindat.org gallery of Alain Tuel.

Thanks Johan and Jean-Marc, that is wonderful. Much more information than I possibly hoped for. Again thanks.
