Mineral Photography360 degree view of precious opal

9th Jul 2015 07:02 UTCRory Howell

I thought precious opal might be an ideal type of mineral to benefit from the 360 degree photo upload, so I tried it on a specimen I found last month at the Rainbow Ridge Mine, Humboldt County, Nevada. Just was using a cheap turntable and tripod, but it did pretty good and definitely has a lot of potential for precious opal specimens. The view is a little choppy as I did not have the specimen perfectly centered, but I will keep working on it and upload some of my nicer opal specimens.

Nice, once you get that nicely centered it will be amazing, the opal really shows off. I was thinking of a similar idea of manually using a turn table glad to see it works.
