Mineralogical ClassificationCurrent status of Spadaite?

3rd Feb 2016 16:53 UTCVik Vanrusselt Expert

Hello all,

I'd like to know the current status of Spadaite.

Both Mindat and Mineralienatlas have it as "questionable/doubtful".

However, Webmineral has it as "valid, pre-IMA (1843)".

Which is it? :-)

Thanks in advance,

Vik

The current IMA listing (Nov 2015) lists it as questionable.

see: http://nrmima.nrm.se//IMA_Master_List_2015-11.pdf

Cheers

Yes, questionable is the current status.

All specimens investigated at today (holotype included) "confirm" the questionable status.

I am searching for a better specimen.
