PhotosBournonite - Banská Štiavnica, Banská Štiavnica Co., Banská Bystrica Region, Slovakia

4th Jan 2013 17:00 UTCKarsten Ivan

Dear Leon, after longer discussion on Slovak mineral webpage Preshowminerals was concluded, that this bournonite was certainly never found in Banska Stiavnica, Slovakia, because bournonite was never found in mass or crystals in Banska Stiavnica. If I told never, I mean never ever.;-)

This specimen can be from Zlata Bana on Eastern Slovakia , where are occured similar quality crystals.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best Regards

Hi Karsten,

Thank you for your message.

This was a difficult specimen, with this specimen was an older label mentioning Banska Stiavnica as the locality but i had also my doubts about it. After some discussion with Daniel Ozdin i have uploaded it as being from this locality, because Daniel also believed it was from this locality. Daniel has seen some pictures of the whole specimen, including the matrix.

By the way the specimen is nowadays in Slovakia as part of the collection of Daniel Ozdin.

But, as you and other Slovak collectors a sure this one is from Zlata Bana i have changed the locality for this sample already on mindat.

Best Regards,

Leon.
