GeneralInteresting druzy lepidolite covering/replacing muscovite and schorl

15th Apr 2016 18:52 UTCDan Costian

Druzy lepidolite is covering/replacing muscovite books and even the terminated crystal of schorl, From Afghanistan: Dara-i-Pech pegmatite, Chapa Dara District, Konar Province. Usually it is the reverse: muscovite replacing lepidolite.

Dan, this "lepidolite" covering has been analyzed? Many pink micas are just Mn-rich mica.

First photo is somewhat blurry and second link does not work.

No, José. It was not analyzed. The specimen was labeled as lepidolite and schorl from Dara-i-Pech. Not uncommon for this locality.

The second link is working on my computer. I don't know what happen. I'll reload it on the forum.

Best regards,

Dan

Mica booklets with both lepidolite and muscovite are common at Viitaniemi complex pegmatite in Finland. Inner areas of these booklets are muscovite and sides are lepidolite so I guess these are lepidolite pseudomorphs (epimorphs) after muscovite?

Another Li-pegmatite in Finland has lepidolite pseudomorphs after elbaite
