MineralsČechite

Hi,

I have seen that you have modified Čechite chemical formula

from Pb(Fe2+,Mn2+)(VO4)(OH)

to PbFe2+(VO4).

Can you explain what is the reason of this change?

Hi. Just checked, the "old" (and correct) formula is still there.

The IMA list uses PbFe2+(VO4)(OH).

Hi,

Thank you for your answer but this IMA change is coming from an article?

We are preparing an article of a pure PbFe2+(VO4)(OH) from Catalonia.

Still there? not in mindat...

Since several years at least, the IMA prefers the end-member formulae, unless a minor component/substituent is necessary to stabilise the structure/mineral.

In the case of Pb(Fe2+,Mn2+)(VO4)(OH), the Mn is not necessary, so PbFe2+(VO4)(OH) is the correct formula.

Thank you for your information.
