General"New" Tucson Gem & Min show

3rd Jan 2017 22:04 UTCScott Rider

I was making an attempt to check out their website for the 2017 show, as it said "New" and that was interesting to me...

However, I went to the sight and all I can get is a countdown to the show...

Can anyone please enlighten me to what is so "new" about the show??? I won't be able to attend so I was curious what could be "new."

I have never been to Tucson but the "new" drew me into the advertisement to see what was new. Same curiosity with little detail to cure the curiosity

It is a new venue for some well-regarded dealers. New location. New promoter. I'll definitely visit as I know some of those on the dealer list and they regularly have affordable and interesting material. I hope it catches on!

I think the ad to which you are referring is for another peripheral show. The TGMS show is Feb 9-12.

Scott,

Brand new show, first year, I was told no parking issues. Dana, hope to meet you there. Located at former Century 12 Theatres site.

Show is at a new location, somewhat in the center of the entire show.

There will be 21 dealers who specialize in minerals, not lapidary, jewelry, etc. Will have some established dealers, some newcomers. Will be several species/rare mineral dealers, Show dates-Jan. 31 (Tuesday) to Feb. 5 (Monday). Sandwiched in time between the major motel show openings and the Main Show at the convention center. Times 10-6. (Has 1,200 parking spaces and shuttle service.)

I am assured this is a mineral only show, conditions for dealers include that every specimen must be labelled and priced - or they get booted out!

I like the idea of a new show that is aiming to be a hub for real minerals at affordable prices.

In addition mindat will be there!

More details soon
