Improving Mindat.orgMannardite -

Received the following message from the Mannard family - can some one correct the bio associated with the naming of mannardite?

I referenced the mindat page on the mineral 'mannardite' recently, which was named in honour of George W Mannard.

George was my uncle.

I see that his career description includes the sentence "Mannard also served as Director of the Bureau of Mines and Deputy Minister of the Department of Mines of Quebec." Please note that this reference is an error. George was a well-liked and highly successful mining executive and mentor to many geologists (like myself) but he did not serve in any senior position with the Quebec government. I confirmed this with his children.

Thank you for your attention

From the CM describing the species: e.

"The name mannardite honors

the late Dr. George William Mannard (1932-1982),

president of Kidd Creek Mines Ltd. It commemorates

his long-standing interest in unusual

minerals and in the mineral deposits of northern British

Columbia; it is particularly appropriate in that

Dr. Mannard was himself present at the time of the

initial collection of the crystals in 1978 and recognized

them as being of an unusual nature."
