look's good See you there

Ha, all this time I looked at those images I thought the head was a chocolate chip cookie and wondered why "Joe" the chocolate chip cookie was hawking a mineral show. Now I finally noticed it's a rock covered in Sharpie. Either my vision is much worse than I've always assumed, or my imagination is much better... or maybe a little of both.

28th Feb 2019 18:57 UTCPaul Brandes Manager

One of the symptoms of peering through a microscope all day, Frank? ;-)

28th Feb 2019 19:10 UTCWayne Corwin

That's no Sharpie !!!

Joe is all Natural !!!

I found joe just as you see him !!!

Joe is from a pegmatite, a little quartz but mostly feldspar with big black tourmalines !!!

lol... could be, Paul, but I've always had really terrible vision (on top of embarrassingly bad color perception for a microscopist). I perhaps ought to note that as a disclaimer when I'm offering ID suggestions to those here who post unknown rocks and minerals for identification: "caveat emptor: I might mistake your rock for a tasty food item... bon appétit!".

EDIT: not Sharpie... tourmaline! Yikes, I really I do need another visit to the optometrist! You're killing me, Wayne! LOL

I don't know Wayne..... poor Joe looks petrified that the show is just one day away!

23rd Mar 2019 01:21 UTCWayne Corwin

It's been a whole year since last show, he's been getting tired of how long a year is inbetween this wonderfull show.

He'll be feeling much better tomorrow for sure !
