Has anyone seen this screen continuously pop up every time the locality search is opened?

11th Jun 2019 23:58 BSTDon Saathoff Expert

Yes, I seem to remember Google doing this same thing before. Jolyon had to deal with it somehow...

12th Jun 2019 00:21 BSTAndrew Debnam

I have had the same issue Daniel.

12th Jun 2019 00:24 BSTDaniel J. Evanich Expert

Thanks, Don. It's frustrating, not sure if I need to do something on my end or if Julian has to do something to Mindat. If it were widespread, it seems others would be commenting as well.

This started happening about 1-2 weeks ago. When did you first note it?

12th Jun 2019 00:36 BSTAndrew Debnam

About a week ago and it also happens on my mobile phone

12th Jun 2019 03:01 BSTDoug Schonewald

I notice it about a week ago also. Using Firefox & Windows 10

12th Jun 2019 03:54 BSTMichael Hatskel

Same issue, both on the comp and the iPhone.

The map is dark, but if you click OK on the popup, all functionality seems to work: zoom in/out, dragging, object selection.

This was commented on in another thread. The response to that was that a resolution would have to wait for Jolyon to get home and deal with Google.

I think Google have change the licence and yes Jolyon needs to handle this.

Thanks, Doug. Just glad to know it's not just on my side.

Hopefully now fixed

12th Jun 2019 16:59 BSTDaniel J. Evanich Expert

Yes, it appears ok now. Thank you, Jolyon.

I see a couple of messages noting this has been fixed, but I'm still seeing the error when I load locality pages. The maps are usable after I click through the dialog box (but the "for development purposes only" watermark remains and the map is darkened), but note this example from today:

16th Jun 2019 22:47 BSTDoug Schonewald

I am seeing it as well Frank. Using Firefox and windows 10

16th Jun 2019 23:20 BSTJolyon Ralph Founder

Oh no, not again.

I've emailed Google, hopefully they can fix it more permanently this time.
